Culinary Competition 2024
The World Chef King Summit 2024 Executive Committee (the “Organizer”) invites chefs to participate in the “World Chef King Culinary Competition 2024” (the “Event”) to be held during the “World Chef King Summit 2024” (the “Summit”) as follows. Those who wish to participate in the Event “Applicants”) are requested to read the following guidelines and submit their applications by the application deadline as described below.

1.Outline of the Event
- (1) Date of the Event: Sunday, November 17, 2024
*Please gather on the evening of Saturday, November 16, to check out the facilities and attend an orientation session. - (2)Location of this event: Ocean Terrace (816 Tooruura, Nojima, Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture)
- (3)Participation fee: Free
- (4)Transportation and lodging expenses
If selected for the final round, the organizer will cover the transportation expenses to the event venue, but only within the limits approved by the organizer. Additionally, accommodation during the event will be arranged by the organizer, but only if deemed necessary by the organizer.
(Basic requirements for transportation expenses)
The transportation fee will be provided based on the shortest distance from your home to the location of the event.
In principle, taxi cabs are not allowed.
Express fares will be provided only when deemed necessary by the Organizer.
Special seats on Shinkansen trains and airplanes are not permitted.
When using a car, expressway fees and gasoline expenses will be paid in accordance with the Organizer's rules and regulations. - (5) Others
In the event of natural disasters, epidemics, or other unavoidable circumstances, the event period, location, schedule, etc. may be subject to change. In such cases, the World Chef King Summit 2024 Management Office (“the Office”) will promptly notify the Applicants.

2.Entry details
- (1) Entry theme: “Plant-Based Cuisine” that is friendly to humans and the earth
Please propose plant-based dishes that are not only healthy and delicious, but also friendly to the global environment. In addition, please use ingredients from Awaji Island and make use of the food culture and traditions of your own country's cuisine. - (2) Application Requirements
① Applicants must be foreign nationals at the time of the Event.
② If selected for the finals, the Applicant must be able to come to the event site and participate in the orientation on the day of the Event and the day before the Event as stated in 1.(1) above.
③ As of the date of application and the date of the Event, you must not be a member of a crime syndicate, a member or associate member of a crime syndicate, a company affiliated with a crime syndicate, a person associated with a special intelligence crime group, or a person who acts against public interest (“Anti-social Forces”), and have not been so in the past five years from the date of application, and you must not have provided funding, favors, or other benefits to Anti-social Forces. (2) The Applicant must not have had any relationship with anti-social Forces, including the provision of funds or favors, for the past five years from the date of application. - (3) How to apply
Please submit your entry form for the World Chef King Culinary Competition on the World Chef King Summit website, attaching the required information, a photo of the dish to be entered, and the recipe.
① Only original recipes by the entrant, regardless of culinary genre, are accepted.
② All recipes that can be submitted must be one main menu (staple food and main dish) only.
③ Recipes must be for one full portion serving.
④ Recipes must have a maximum selling price of 2,000 yen per dish, with a cost of 30% or less.

3.Judging Criteria

Those who pass the first round of judging will be asked to participate in the actual food judging on November 17 (Sun.) at the site of the finals.① Thematic (plant-based)30 points② Whether or not the food culture and traditions of the Applicant's country are utilized. 30 points30 points③ Concept of the menu (health, environment, etc.)20 points④ Taste (deliciousness, whether the characteristics of the ingredients are fully utilized) and beauty (color and appearance)20 pointsTotal 100 points (point scoring system) - Plant-Based Food Guidelines
Plant-based food guidelines for this event are as follows:Plant-Based “Definition”.
Animal products such as meat, fish, eggs and dairy products are not allowed.
Vegetables, fruits, legumes, grains, seaweed and nuts can be used.
[Examples of alternatives]
Meat: Tofu, deep-fried tofu, soy meat, fake meat
Eggs ... Tofu, bananas, potatoes
Milk: Soy milk, oats milk, almond milk
[Seasonings]
The use of additives of natural origin is recommended.
However, in the case of seasonings essential for cooking, the use of others is limitedly allowed.

Only plant-derived soup stock may be used.
Please check the labels of the ingredients to be used, including the plant-based certification mark.

4.Cooking at the finals
- (1) You are required to cook and serve for 5 people within 60 minutes of preparation time (preparation) and 45 minutes of cooking time.
*Please bring 2 full portion plates (for presentation to the judges/photography).
*The Office will prepare 5 small portion plates (for the judges' tasting).Due to the large number of competitors tasting, the plates for the judges will be served in small portions.Since the judging time is short, the judges will only be able to sample one or two bites. Even with that time, the flavor should be attractive.Please serve the small portion plates in a balanced manner so that the taste can be conveyed even in that time. - (2) The cost of ingredients for the cooking competition is the responsibility of the Organizer.
- (3) In principle, the Organizer will prepare the ingredients and seasonings based on the recipes submitted in advance. However, if the Organizer is unable to prepare special ingredients or utensils, the participants will be asked to bring their own at their own expense after confirming with the Organizer in advance.
- (4) We will inform you in advance of any ingredients that are not available in Japan based on the recipe. Please bring those ingredients as well or substitute them with those available in Japan.
- (5) The kitchen facilities for cooking are equipped with a refrigerator, cooking table, and gas table. Convection ovens may be used at a slightly remote location depending on the booth location. Also, the oven may only be used for 45 minutes of cooking time (preparation time is not allowed).
We will provide general cooking utensils and supplies, but please check with the secretariat in advance and bring any special utensils you may need. - (6) Please note that the rules may be slightly changed later due to the venue or management.

9. Use and disclosure of submitted recipes by the organizer
The Organizer will use the submitted recipes in accordance with the following provisions. Please be aware of this before submitting your entry. By submitting an entry to this event, you agree to the use stipulated in this section.
- (1) The copyright of all photographs and videos of the Contestants taken by the Sponsors and third parties entrusted by the Sponsors (the “Photographs, etc.”) belong to the Sponsors, and the Contestants selected for the finals grant the Sponsors free and unrestricted use of their portrait(s). The Organizer will use the Photographs etc. on the official website of the World Chef King Summit 2024, the official website of Pasona Group, the official websites of the Sponsors and cooperating organizations of the event, and in various media, as well as in publications issued by the Organizer or third parties entrusted by the Organizer.
The Organizer will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of this information. - (2) Entrants who are selected for the finals will have their submitted recipes used by the Sponsors, Pasona Group and the Sponsors and cooperating organizations for a period of 6 months from the day following the end of the event for the purpose of providing the recipes at the event and related events, and for planning projects using the recipes by the Sponsors and cooperating organizations for the event. The use of the Recipe for a period of six (6) months from the day following the end of the Event shall be permitted free of charge. In the event that a recipe is published and the name of an ingredient is a product name or common name that is registered as a trademark by a third party, the Office will change the name to a common name and use the same characters as those used in the recipe.
- (1) The copyright of all photographs and videos of the Contestants taken by the Sponsors and third parties entrusted by the Sponsors (the “Photographs, etc.”) belong to the Sponsors, and the Contestants selected for the finals grant the Sponsors free and unrestricted use of their portrait(s). 1. Purpose of use
The Sponsor will use the name, telephone number, and e-mail address (collectively “Personal Information”) submitted by applicants for the Event only for the purposes specified in the following items and will not use it for any other purposes.
- (1) Selection of finalists for the Event
- (2)Contacting Applicants with the results of the selection process
- (3)To introduce the Applicant in case he/she is selected for the finals (excluding telephone number and e-mail address)
- (4)Other operations necessary to hold the Event.

2. Provision to third parties
The Organizer will not provide this Personal Information to any third party without the consent of the person in question, except when requested to do so by the police or other administrative or judicial authorities, or when otherwise required by law.

3. Outsourcing
The Organizer may outsource the handling of Personal Information to a subcontractor that meets the standards of the Organizer's Personal Information protection system.

4. Disclosure of Personal Information
In accordance with the Personal Information Protection Law, requests for notification of purpose of use, disclosure, correction, suspension of use, etc. (“Requests for Disclosure, etc.”) shall be made to the organizer as described below. (“Request for Disclosure, etc.”) in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Law, please contact the Personal Information Inquiry Desk below. Please note that the identity of the person making the request must be verified and the details of the request must be provided in the prescribed and required documents.

5. Security Control Measures
The Organizer will take necessary and appropriate security control measures for the management of personal data, including the prevention of leakage, loss, or damage ( “Leakage, etc.”). The security control measures for personal data are as follows:
- (1) Basic Policy
The Organizer has established a Personal Data Protection Policy (https://www.pasonagroup.co.jp/utility/privacy.html) to ensure the proper handling of personal data. - (2) Establishment of Rules for Handling Personal Data
For each stage of acquisition, use, storage, provision, deletion, disposal, etc., “Basic Rules for the Protection of Personal Data” (“Basic Rules for the Protection of Personal Data”) have been established to describe the acquisition method, responsible person/persons in charge and their duties, etc. - (3) Organizational Safety Control Measures
① In addition to appointing a Personal Information Protection Manager for the handling of personal data, the Company clarifies the employees who handle personal data and the scope of personal data handled by such employees, and establishes a system for reporting to the Personal Information Protection Manager in the event that any fact or indication of a violation of the Personal Information Protection Law or Basic Rules for the Protection of Personal Information is detected. (2) The status of the handling of personal data is reported to the Personal Information Protection Administrator.
② Periodic audits are conducted to ensure that the handling of personal data is in compliance with laws and regulations, the Basic Rules for the Protection of Personal Information, and other standards. - (4) Personnel safety control measures
① Matters concerning confidentiality of personal data are stipulated in employment regulations.
② Periodic training is provided to employees on matters to keep in mind regarding the handling of personal data. - (5) Physical Safety Control Measures
① In areas where personal data is handled, access control for employees and restrictions on equipment and other items they may bring into the office are in place, and measures are taken to prevent unauthorized persons from viewing personal data.
② Measures are taken to prevent theft or loss of equipment, electronic media, documents, etc. that handle personal data, and measures are taken to prevent personal data from being easily discovered when such equipment, electronic media, etc. are carried, including when moving within the business site. - (6) Technical safety control measures
① Access control is implemented to limit the scope of persons in charge and the Personal Information database, etc. handled.
② A system is in place to protect the information system handling personal data from unauthorized external access or unauthorized software. - (7) Understanding of External Environment
When the Organizer handles personal data in a foreign country, the Organizer shall take measures for the safe management of personal data after obtaining information on the personal data protection system of the country concerned.
